When the word wants to be a thing

a book that you can't close -- not necessarily an accordian book b/c that you can easily fold up -- but i'm thinking of a book whose pages are hinged together, and is completely extended at all times, except when you want to store it; then you unhinge all the pages and stack them. Of course, this requires some kind of a case or binding material (and I don't mean twine wrapped and tied around it)
